Brian Erik Konczak

March 3, 1992 - November 7, 2004

by Jessica Oppel (Brian's sister)

BrianBrian Konczak was a 12-year-old boy that was killed in a car accident on November 7, 2004. He was out with his father, father's girlfriend, and his older sister going to get a deer out of the woods. Brian's last day was a day he enjoyed very much. He went out hunting with his father even though Brian wasn't supposed to go out he wanted to so bad and he did. Brian and his father were out hunting at least 5 hours. Then 3 o'clock came around and his Dad told Brian that they were going to take the stand down. Brian told him no, a little bit longer. So they stayed. Then Brian was watching for deer and doe came out but it was too late to shoot. Then Brian saw another one come out and he told his dad that there was another one. It was a buck. Brian's Dad shot it.

They were out in the woods after the big shot trying to get the deer out, but they couldn't do it by themselves. They came home to get his sister and his dad's girlfriend. His sister called up her best friends step-dad to see if he would help get the deer out of the woods and he said that he would. Brian and everyone else came along and met his sister's best friend's step-dad at Brian's house. He was driving in his own car behind. Then off to get the deer. They were almost there but then the accident occurred. Brian's last words were to his sister Jessica. They were asking her if she was cold and she said yes.

Brian was in 7th grade at Morgan Park middle School. He liked to go to school, but really didn't like doing the schoolwork that they give out. He liked school, because he can talk to his friends and spend time in the ISS room! He was a very good kid but he liked to get in trouble, but the trouble he got into wasn't bad. He got in trouble because he turned in a piece of homework that was very sloppy, because of his broken arm and he didn't redo it, stuff like that. He had the school call home almost everyday, because he was acting up or some other thing that he got in trouble that he shouldn't of got in trouble for, but yet everybody enjoyed him at school.

Brian family is: Mother/Step-father Larry Lane and Jackie Konczak/Lane, Father Steven Oppel, Sister Jessica Oppel, Half-sister Kristine Oppel, Step-sisters Melissa Lane, Heather Lane, and April Lane, Step-brother Daniel lane, Maternal Grandparents Nancy and Bob Epps, Paternal Grandmother Marilyn Oppel, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Brian was always interested in fishing, hunting, playing baseball and football, and he like to go skiing in the winter. Some of Brian's favorite things were: The Green Bay Packers for NFL. Rap music. Hunting. Fishing. Football. Baseball. 2 fast 2 furious (movie). Pimp my ride (t.v. show). And more...

Brian's good friends

He had a lot of friends that he was very close to. Brian's best friend was Alex Eskola. Brian and Alex were on the same team playing football and baseball. They did everything best friends could do together. Brian got Alex into boxing. Brian was in boxing for 2 in half years, then he stopped going. Then he was going to start up again and asked Alex if he would like to join too and Alex said sure. Alex is still in boxing. "My fat friend Brian" -Alex would say to Brian. Another one of Brian's best friends is Adam Peterson. Brian meet Adam when the family lived in Morgan Park and Adam lived a block away. Brian And Adam always liked to go fishing a Boy Scout Landing, ride their bikes from Morgan Park all the way out to West Duluth to visit with Brian's Grandmother. Brian would have Adam come over to his house and they would sit all day on the four-wheeler going up and down the alley. Brian's sister would go tell their mom because they weren't letting her ride on it. But once she went inside and came out they let her. One time Brian brought Adam on one of the family trips to Wisconsin Dells and they both got sun burned. They were as red as you could get from being sun burned.
